CMOTION

We have just added a new wireless lens and camera control system to our inventory; The CMOTION system. With this system you can control 3 motors for the lens PLUS added camera controls for Speed Ramps, Shutter Ramps, Aperture Ramps and most advanced camera controls for Film, Video and HD cameras! Camera Crane Specialists CMOTION system is the only system of its type in Chicago or the Midwest.

Now you can wirelessly control 3 motors (Focus Iris and Zoom) on any film or video camera, and with the CDISPLAY attached to the hand unit, the focus puller can use the virtual display of the  lens’ settings as a reference for hyper focal distance; even if the zoom portion of the lens is being operated separately

Chicago's CMOTION 2 motor Hand unit

With the addition of Camera Crane Specialists CZOOM control you can operate a zoom motor from the hand unit as well. The CZOOM clips to the top of the 2 motor hand unit, taking advantage of the excellent ergonomics of the system. It works Just like the familiar MICROFORCE zoom control. Additionally, the CZOOM can be attached to a Steadicam gimbal, allowing the operator to control zoom. A rosette mount and clamping system are included in the kit

Camera Crane Specialists CZOOM ON CHANDLE

Chicago’s 2 motor CMOTION hand unit is ergonomically designed and light weight allowing the focus puller a comfortable control of focus and iris, as well as camera on/off functions. Unlike the Preston system, the CMOTION communicates bidirectionally, so if the camera is rolling, the LED indicator on the hand unit is lit, and if the camera is running asynchronously, the same LED glows red, so you know to check the camera system for problems. Locking knobs on the hand unit prevent accidental movement of the controls, and the range of the controls can be increased or decreased in relation to the lens. Illuminated focus marker rings allow for accurate focus pulling even in the dark! Variable tension on the focus know allow you to adjust the drag on the knob. The motor controls can be reversed for iris and focus.

Camera Crane Specialists CZOOM

The CZOOM can be attached to a comfortable wooden handle which can be handheld or attached to the camera operators pan handle with our included rosette and clamping system, allowing the camera op to zoom, while the focus puller operates focus and iris independently of the camera op, with NO CABLE attaching the focus puller to the camera! This familiar setup allow the camera op to control zoom and camera on/off functions, like using an OPPENHANDLE and MICROFORCE, but also gives the focus puller the freedom to operate the lens and on/off functions wirelessly!

Also available in Chicago is Camera Crane Specialists CZOOM II (not pictured). The CZOOM II does double duty as a stand alone zoom control with built in motor control and power source. For the camera operator the CZOOM II can be mounted directly to the pan handle using an integral mount to the OPPENHANDLE very much like a MICROFORCE, though more ergonomic. Included in the kit are a rosette mount and a clamp to allow the CZOOM II to be mounted to almost anything, including a pan handle. For the focus puller the CZOOM II can operate as a stand alone zoom control that interfaces with the focus system completely wirelessly, allowing the freedom to pass off the responsibilities of zoom operation to a second assistant, or the camera operator or even the director! Because of the wireless link, there is no need to run a cable to the zoom control to interface it with the system, so there are no tethers between the camera, the focus puller and the CZOOM II!

Camera Crane Specialists CDISPLAY has a multitude of functions. First, the CDISPLAY can be mounted to the focus pullers hand unit to provide a virtual display of the lens, either focus only or focus zoom and iris, as well as  multicolored electronic lens marks, hyper focal distance bar graph and camera information such as shutter speed, on/ off and camera error information and even magazine footage! If the CZOOM or CZOOM II are being used away from the hand unit, the hyper focal display becomes quite important as the focal length of the lens is changed by another person. Further, the CDISPLAY can program shutter speeds and 3 different types of camera ramps! Secondly, the CDISPLAY can be attached to the camera and is then powered from the Camera Interface box, allowing the assistant the same camera control and lens information without mounting it to the hand unit. The most exciting part is that the CDISPLAY can operate completely wirelessly from any of the other components of the system, so now the DP or Director can have a hand unit that can control camera speed or ramps on cue! No longer is there the problem of anticipating when to ramp the camera; now the person who is calling the ramp can execute the ramp, without complicating the tasks of the focus puller.

Camera Crane Specialists CDISPLAY

Camera Crane Specialists CMOTION is the only system like it in Chicago or the Midwest. With it, you no longer need to rent camera control boxes from the rental house, won’t need to string camera control cables down the crane arm and won’t be limited by cable length on set. Our system will also operate video cameras and can even operate the existing motors on ENG style lenses. Continuing our commitment to adding unique equipment to the Chicago and Midwest markets, the CMOTION system is the next generation of wireless camera and lens control.
